Applications Open for 2026 UK Sommelier of the Year & Official Training Bootcamps Announced

The search for the UK’s next top sommelier is officially underway. UKSA and Trade Hospitality are pleased to announce that entries for the 2026 UK Sommelier of the Year are now live.

This year, the UK Sommelier platform is dedicated entirely to the competition—serving as a professional hub where candidates can find entry details, key dates, and the resources needed to elevate their craft.

The Competition Journey

Entries are open until 1st May 2026. Following an initial online selection process involving theory and tasting exams, the top talent will head to the live Finals held on July 06–07, 2026, at St John's Church, London.

The winner will not only hold one of the industry's most prestigious titles but will also earn the opportunity to represent the UK in future ASI International contests.

Essential Preparation: Wine & Spirits Bootcamps

To ensure candidates are fully prepared for the rigours of the ASI framework, there is a series of intensive Bootcamps scheduled throughout April, May, and June. These sessions move beyond the standard masterclass, offering "working sessions" where participants are engaged and challenged.

Wine Bootcamp Series (Partner: Berkmann Wine Cellars) Led by Vincenzo Arnese (UK Sommelier of the Year 2022), these sessions focus on:

  • Theory and preparation strategy

  • Tasting technique and calibration

  • Practical skills and service under pressure

  • Dates: 13 April, 11 May, 1 June

Spirits Bootcamp Series (Partner: The Whisky Exchange) Led by Dawn Davies MW, these sessions focus on:

  • Unaged Spirits: Production & Blind ID (7 April)

  • Aged Spirits: Ageing & Complexity (21 April)

  • Liqueurs & Service Styles (28 April)

There is an open invitation for all hospitality professionals to attend these Bootcamps to sharpen their skills. However, priority for all sessions will be given to registered candidates of the UK Sommelier of the Year.
