The IWSC UK Sommelier of the Year

The IWSC UK Sommelier of the Year is run by the UKSA.

Jointly organised by IWSC and the UKSA and recognised by the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale, the event is open to professional sommeliers working in the UK.

Widely regarded as the premier accolade in UK wine service, candidates are judged on their wine and drink expertise as well as their ability to deal efficiently and knowledgeably with customers by demonstrating exemplary front-of-house skills.

The UK Sommelier of the Year competition has long been a prestigious event in the hospitality industry, celebrating the talents and expertise of sommeliers across the country.

The 2025 competition took place on 7 and 8 of July 2025

2025 UK Sommelier of the Year is Maria Boumpa, Head Sommelier at Da Terra.

2nd place went to Dion Wai, Wine & Bar Manager at Raffles at the OWO and 3rd place to Joanna Nerantzi, Head Sommelier at 5 Hertford Street
