An Exclusive Invitation to Balfour Winery – "Britain’s Best Winery to Visit"

At the UK Sommelier Academy, we are committed to bringing our members closer to the heartbeat of the wine industry. We are therefore thrilled to announce our next UKSA Southern event: an exclusive, behind-the-scenes immersion into the world of Balfour Winery.

Awarded the title of "Britain's best winery to visit," Balfour is a pioneer of the English wine revolution. This is a rare opportunity for 25 of our members to experience the craftsmanship, innovation, and hospitality that have made the Hush Heath Estate a global benchmark for quality.

The Balfour Legacy

Since planting their first vineyards in 2002, Balfour has been at the forefront of the industry. Their 2004 Brut Rosé made history as the first English wine to win a Gold Medal and the Trophy at the International Wine Challenge. Today, they continue to push boundaries, blending world-class winemaking with a modern, hospitality-led approach.

What to Expect: A Masterclass in Innovation

This isn’t just a tour; it is a curated educational experience. Members will be joined by Head Winemaker Fergus Elias for an intimate masterclass tasting.

Attendees will also be among the first to sample a "sneak preview" of what Balfour aims to be England’s most premium red wine—a must-taste moment for any serious sommelier.

The day will also include a guided walking tour of the stunning 400-acre estate, showcasing Kent’s ancient woodlands, wildflower meadows, and meticulously tended vines, followed by local produce platters and networking on the terrace.
